VocalWitness is a simple public square where anyone can share what they saw safely. Your identity is protected, and your report can never be secretly deleted or edited by anyone, thus zk technology do it for us.
In a world full of edited videos and fake news, we give ordinary people a safe place to publish photos, voice notes, and reports. Everything is protected so the evidence stays trustworthy and your privacy stays intact.
Every photo, voice note and document gets a unique digital fingerprint on your device before upload. Others can confirm it is real without seeing your private details.
Speaking out is always your choice. We automatically remove location and device information. Phone checks are only temporary to stop spam and are never stored publicly.
No single person decides what is true. Trust grows through honest participation and clear reputation. We stay neutral.
VocalWitness is kept alive by voluntary support. There are no ads, no paywalls, and no premium features locked behind payment.
Everyone begins as a Citizen. You can raise your level with simple checks. Higher levels unlock stronger protection.
Once something is published, it is locked. No one can quietly change or delete the original.
VocalWitness is a neutral public square. We do not edit posts or push certain stories. The evidence speaks for itself.
All media receives a local SHA-256 cryptographic hash before upload. Entries are hash-chained (prevHash + hash). Zero-Knowledge proofs (zk-SNARKs) allow verification of authenticity without revealing private identifiers.

Application-level immutability enforced by Firestore security rules + client-side hashing + hash-chaining. This is not a full public blockchain. Optional future IPFS / public-chain anchoring is planned but not yet active.
